This is the best choice if you wish to spend time in the city exploring the Medina, the Kasbah and the Zocco Grande. El Minzah is in the center of it all!

It opened its doors back in 1930 at the command of John Crichton-Stuart, the 4th marquis of Lord Bute, a British aristocrat with extensive interests in the area. Many important personalities stayed here, Sir rex Harrison, Rita Hayworth, Rock Hudson, Jacques Cousteau, Yves Saint-Laurent and many more. Portraits and pictures of the old times decorate some of the walls.

Fountains and orange trees create an oasis atmosphere in the middle of the buzzling Tangier. Oriental carpets, arched doorways, beautiful Andalusian patio, nice swimming-pool and garden and comfortable bedrooms. There are 140 guest rooms, most of them with views over the garden and the bay of Tangier. The Spa and fitness center are a great place to end or start the day. There is 2 restaurants, one serving international cuisine and another one El Korsan famous for its Moroccan specialities, they probably serve the best Moroccan cuisine in town. Two bars are also available, one close to the swimming pool and gardens, the other one a wine bar close to the patio.

This is my first choice when I go shopping to Tangier, five star service within walking distance of the zocco grande, kasbah and medina.

If you are staying somewhere else it is worth the visit for a tea or to have a wonderful couscous or tagine at El Korsan.
