Ronda is one of the \u00ab\u00a0must\u00a0\u00bb visit in Andaluc\u00eda. There are many interesting sights, today we will review La Casa del Rey Moro.<\/p>\n

This house was built in the 18th century when Moorish were no longer occupying Spain but it still incorporates a genuine Water Mine and beautiful terraced gardens designed in 1923 by the famous french landscape gardener, Jean-Claude Forestier. It was never the home of a Moorish King but got that name!<\/p>\n

In the 14th century, Abomelik, Ronda’s Moorish king ordered his Christians captives slaves to carve steps into the stone walls of the gorge to enable bringing of water from the r\u00edo Guadalev\u00edn below and protect themselves from an attack to their water supply.<\/p>\n

The house was built on top of this amazing Water-Mine. There are more than 200 steps to go down and they are uneven, damp and badly lit so take care! They pass through a number of chambers, one is called the Room of Secrets, while two people standing close to the wall, but at opposite ends of the room could speak perfectly well to each other; their words were completely inaudible to anyone standing in the middle of it! Try it during your next visit!<\/p>\n

At the bottom you will enjoy the tranquillity of the waters of the gorge away from the traffic noises!\u00a0To go back up take your time, it is quite hard to climb all those steps back!!!<\/p>\n
