Eco-hotel clad entirely in cork!

Portugal traditionally provided cork for the world’s wine bottles, but now that screw caps are taking over it’s having to find other uses for its forests of cork oak.

This pioneering new 4-star eco hotel on the outskirts of Évora is clad entirely in cork. This material is really good for thermal and acoustic insulation. Other eco features include geothermal heating for the main building and solar panels to heat the hot water in the suites and pool.

They offer 56 private suites built like white cubes across the Alentejo plains and surrounded by cork trees, holm oaks and centennial olive trees. There is a «skypool» elevated on the 1st floor with breathtaking views of the Alentejo landscape and town. A spa with indoor pool, sauna and turkish bath as well as treatment and relaxation rooms. A gym with trainers to assist you and a restaurant serving traditional Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine.

It is located only 5 minutes away from the historic center of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city since 1986. One hour drive from Lisbon’s airport and city.
