Madrid’s green lung
The Retiro Park or ‘the green lung of Madrid’ is one of the principal parks in the city and it has a wide number of statues, fountains and commemorative monuments that have turn it into a real open air sculpture museum. Since the end of the XIX Century, the Retiro Park was used to celebrate different international exhibitions. The Palacio Velázquez also known as the Glass Palace (Palacio de Cristal) is a witness of these important exhibitions. It is one of the most outstanding places in the park together with the artificial lake where you can rent a little boat and enjoy some free time. It is a very popular place for locals and visitors on weekends and holidays but also for joggers every mornings & afternoons.
