Old city of Mostar

The city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina was named after the famous Stari Most Old Bridge designed by the renowned architect Sinan. It is located on the valley of the Neretva River and was an Ottoman frontier town during the 15th and 16th centuries as well as during the Austro-Hungarian period of the 19th and 20th centuries.

During the 1990 conflict most of it was destroyed. Recently they rebuilt the Old Bridge and restored many of the Old Town buildings and Turkish house. There are many hotels available and if you like history this town has a lot to offer, just make sure you find as much information as possible before your visit to truly take advantage of your stay.

It has become and example of international cooperation for its reconstruction and a symbol of reconciliation with the coexistence of diverse cultural, ethnic and religious communities.

A beautiful and little known place to visit with great nearby sites to visit too.
